“Industrial Fragment” is A series of paintings inspired by elements of working and closed industrial sites, factories and abandoned machineries that Devi had witnessed in cities around the world that he have had visited in last 25 years. As part of work or leisure Devi had opportunity to visit various factories in Indian cities such as Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore. Particularly, in recent years he had opportunity to witness factories and industries in Germany and Switzerland. Most importantly he was inspired to created this series after visiting a closed factory that is now turned into an industrial museum called ‘Landschaftspark’ in Duisburg, Germany - a city that boasts historical relevance of over 1000 years as most industrialised city.
